Can I get sound from a TV or Vizio soundbar through my iphone?

I use a iphone to program my hearing aid. My son bought me a Vizio sound bar for my television to help me here, but if I pair it with my iphone, I get no output.

I think this is because the sound bar is "seeing" the iphone as an INPUT device, but I would like to be able to hear the TV through the iphone so I can send the signal to my hearing aid.

Is there anyway I can do this (and allow others in the room to hear the TV as well?)
