Q: iPhone 5s not displaying correct percentage after battery replacement.

So I purchased a new battery for my aging (and about to be replaced) 5s. Replacement was smooth, and phone booted up normally displaying 3% battery life. After about 30 minutes of charging and still displaying 3%, I restarted. It then displayed 31% battery. After an hour more of charging and still displaying 31%, I restarted and it updated to 87%. Now the phone (while plugged in) keeps shutting down and starting up on it's own.

Anyone have an idea of what's going on? If somehow I hadn't seated the cable fully, could that be causing the issue? I'm at a loss, and looking for help!

Sorry. Your phone is now completely unsupportable by Apple or on these Apple sponsored forums.

Apple does not sell iPhone parts, including batteries, and the iPhone is not user serviceable.

That said, my suspicion is that the battery you bought is complete garbage.

Find a competent 3rd party repair shop and see if they can help you.

I'm not asking for Apple's help, nor do I expect their support for my ancient 5s. I'm hoping for well-informed experienced iPhone users to offer assistance. Can you explain why you think my phone is unsupportable on this forum?

I'd rather repair myself, thank take to a 3rd party 'repair shop'. I'm no 'genius', but fairly capable with repairs to hardware.

This is an Apple sponsored forum. The iPhone is not considered user serviceable by Apple at all. Discussions of that type would be a violation of the Apple Support Communities Terms of Use.

If you want help with that, try looking someplace like ifixit.com.

    We can't help you here.
