iOS 10 Clock

I opened Clock for the first time in iOS10 and was aghast to find out that it now has white lettering on a black background, and there is no way to turn it back to having a much more readable, easier on the eyes, black lettering on a white background. I contacted Apple Support and the only suggestion they had was to give feedback to Apple.

The other annoying feature of Clock in iOS 10 is the Bedtime feature. Click it and you are told: Going to bed and waking up at the same times every day are keys to healthy sleep.

Oh, really? Give me a break. I don't need my iPhone to tell me when to go beddy bye and when to wake up. This is the most infantile feature yet.

For all the people posting that a person should download another app to do what the app they were using happily once did, how about if you explain how to remove the built-in clock then, so there's not a duplicate taking up room? This white on black is ugly and there's no excuse for not giving a choice. Every time I update anything from Apple the past bunch of years I regret it. And I've been using Apple products since they were made, but I don't need to be a fanboi.

This isn't a forum about world disasters. It's a place to find answers about an item most of us use all day. The OP for all you know might be saving many disadvantaged people all over the planet, and just wishes that simple things they rely on and have paid good money for could be easy and pleasant and not jarring. It's not too much to ask for an ugly software change like that to give an option of white on black or black on white. Everyone keeps saying "Apple is not here." Well for one thing that's irresponsible, and for another I bet an Apple rep will rush in and remove any posts they don't like. I know for myself I was googling about how to remove this god-forsaken ugliness, because I couldn't figure out how. Now I see that once again it's just a poor change I'm stuck with as a punishment for updating. If the OP didn't ask, I'd still be wondering where to change the background back. If people aren't using this clock app, why are you posting in this thread to try to discount the OPs opinion? Is there a brownie points system I don't know about?

How is telling the truth irresponsible? This forum is manned by volunteers from all over the world, not Apple staff.

and for another I bet an Apple rep will rush in and remove any posts they don't like.

Only if volunteers of recognised experience report the post to the moderators, and the moderators then consider the post has violated the terms and conditions that the poster agreed to by registering. Posts are not removed on the grounds of "not likable".

Now I see that once again it's just a poor change I'm stuck with as a punishment for updating.

You are not stuck with Apple's Clock app. Use any clock app you like.

Although Apple has included the ability to remove many of the built in apps, the Clock app is not one that you can remove. Therefore, no instructions are possible. All of the built in apps together take up about 150 megabytes. In other words, not much space at all.

The OP's question was perfectly reasonable BUT, it has been answered many many times in this thread to the extent that the people here are able to. There's no-one from Apple here; just other users. So, once again....

There's no way to change how the clock appears.

There are alternatives in the App Store.

If you want to make your views known to Apple use the feedback link which has been posted previously.

Simply restating the issue over and over is just venting.

Somehow, I find it highly unlikely that someone who actually knows what third world problems are would be whining about first world ones....

It's not too much to ask for an ugly software change like that to give an option of white on black or black on white. Everyone keeps saying "Apple is not here." Well for one thing that's irresponsible - Why is that "irresponsible"? It's the truth. Apple moderates these forums. They do not participate except for a few Community Specialists who provide support links for questions that have gone unanswered for more than 24 hours. So, Apple is not here for all intents and purposes.

In addition, having to add an app that better fits your requirements is really not something to get all worked up about. Move the Clock app to the last screen, and replace it with whatever you want. But you really need to try to focus on important things. And if you want to do something pro-active, then send in your Feedback: Apple - Feedback. Please just stop trying to justify a complete stranger's whining and somehow making it seem potentially noble. It's not.

I absolutely hate the black background! I was so looking for a fixed to return it to a white background. I wish there was an option to allow us to change it to a white background. I to also use the timer for task around the house & keeping track of workouts and etc. Seeing the black background is difficult on my eyes and depressing.

Except on that feedback page Clock isn't even an option! (Not saying it's your fault, rather pointing it out to Apple)

Neither is Stocks, Weather, Game Center, App Store, iTunes Store, Find my iPhone, Find Friends, Wallet, Calendar, Notes, Reminders, messages, Facetime, Safari, Maps, Compass, News, or the over 1.5 million 3rd party apps available for the iPhone. Just choose "iPhone".
