iOS 10 Clock

I opened Clock for the first time in iOS10 and was aghast to find out that it now has white lettering on a black background, and there is no way to turn it back to having a much more readable, easier on the eyes, black lettering on a white background. I contacted Apple Support and the only suggestion they had was to give feedback to Apple.

The other annoying feature of Clock in iOS 10 is the Bedtime feature. Click it and you are told: Going to bed and waking up at the same times every day are keys to healthy sleep.

Oh, really? Give me a break. I don't need my iPhone to tell me when to go beddy bye and when to wake up. This is the most infantile feature yet.

I have a hard time seeing the white numbers when I am outside! I hope Apple will change the background color!

The use the invert colors options as explained previously in this thread to make the clock have a white background with black text instead.

Then use the feedback link and tell about it, so they know and can probably offer an option in future iOS updates:

Shouldn't have to ask. Shouldn't need two of the same thing.

So you think that, somehow, Apple should be able to create an application that pleases everyone equally? Do you understand how unrealistic that is? And, do you think that Apple, (or anyone) should be able to know what you want unless you tell them? Apple has lots of money but they still can't read minds.

Do you own more than one pair of shoes? Could that possibly be because one pair doesn't meet all of your needs all of the time?

I too do not like the black background with the white lettering. I do appreciate that they are trying to build in safety features and educate the public but, they should understand that not everyone uses their phone and these features under the same lighting conditions. In other words, those settings that Apple has forced upon us while taking away our ability to make adjustments according to individual lighting situations may not be the safest for all of Apples customers.

I too don't like the background color of black. Would like some option.

There is a rationale for night time use. A white screen in the bedroom sends signal to the hypothalamus to interrupt the maltonin release that brings on sleep. However, for daytime use, a black screen is not helpful for reading recognition, just as if you had a black page with with print in a book.

Actually, it's the blue light that is implicated in causing sleep disturbances. Hence the release of Night Shift. Comparing recognizing four numbers and punctuation to reading is not really a valid comparison. For years, since the release of digital clocks, there have been clocks that are red, blue or green on black with no way to change it to dark on white. People managed.

If your preference for clock coloring is different than what Apple offers, take advantage of the many options out there. Before Apple made the change, I always used a third party clock that let me set it to red on black.
