Can't backup iphone 7 with itunes
iTunes says cannot connect because the phone doesn't have the latest update, so I cannot backup using iTunes. Is there any solution to this problem?

Sorry I wasn't clear. I have the latest version on my computer, it simply states that my new phone doesn't have the latest version. I cannot transfer my stored data and apps to my new phone.

No problem...Using Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support describe which steps you have attempted to accomplish.
I'm just setting up my new iphone 7 Plus. It asks if I want to restore using itunes, which I do. When i connect the phone to iTunes, I get an error message "the iphone cannot be used because it requires a newer version of iTunes. Go to iTunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes." I can't go to iTunes on that phone, and the version on my computer is up to date. It seems to be the phone that needs the newer version, again, no way to do that before it is setup.

What computer/operating system are you using?
