Q: iPhone 7 Plus bluetooth audio issue with BMW ConnectedDrive

Hi,

I just upgraded to an iPhone 7 Plus running iOS 10.0.1 and am having issues playing music through Bluetooth on BMW ConnectedDrive.  I've upgraded the BMW software on my car to the latest version from BMW's website, but i still get disconnected on bluetooth after about 5-10 secs after playing music.  I've tried to restore the phone and set It up as a new phone.  I've deleted the connection both on the device and car, but the issue persists.  Is anybody else encountering this problem?

Thanks!

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 10

I'm also having this problem with a 2015 BMW. Incidentally, I've isolated it as an iPhone 7 issue rather than an iOS 10 issue, as it works fine with a 5S and 6S.

I am having the same issue with a 2016 BMW.  There was no problem with a 6s running IOS 10 last week. Since I've used my IPhone 7 Plus the connection drops after playing audio for 5-10 seconds. Cannot make calls over Bluetooth either. Is everyone exchanging their phones for replacements?

Same here. I have a 2016 BMW with latest ConnectedDrive firmware.. When streaming music through Bluetooth it will play fine for a bit then suddenly just stops playing the music... Turning off/on bluetooth fixes it but it happens again right after... Can take 20 seconds to about 1 minute... Eventually it stops streaming. Using Iphone 7 plus on ios 10

Same issue here and I've also identified this to be an iPhone 7 issue only, as last week I had my iPhone 6 with iOS10 streaming music over bluetooth normally. Now it will only stream music for 5 seconds and then stop the bluetooth connection.

Same here. 2014 328i with latest connecteddrive firmware. The issue is with iPhone 7. My iPhone 6 with ios10 worked just fine in the same car. iPhone 7 connects, plays music, then it stops. It doesn't disconnect though so it is strange. Both BMW and the iPhone think they are connected but music doesn't stream and the Siri doesn't work through the car. Have the turn off/on the Bluetooth to connect again. But same thing happens in about a minute.

Same issue between 7plus and 2016 435i. Apple, what should we do?

I tried connecting my girlfriends IPhone 7 Plus to the Bluetooth in my 16 BMW 4 Series last night.  Same results as my IPhone 7 Plus, dropped connection after about 20 seconds.  Cannot make any calls either on Bluetooth!

Same on my iPhone 7 and 2015 330d..... Clearly an iPhone 7 issue and not BMW.

    Any fix for this Apple?

YYes it's definitely an iPhone 7 issue since same software running on iPhone 6 works just fine. Also, if you look at forums lots of people are having the same problem with many different late model cars from other manufacturers. I did try all of the resetting, turning off/on, forgetting and re-pairing the devices, etc suggested by apple tech. Wanted to mention this before an Apple rep come on here and say to do all of this, as that seems to be their standard response to all other similar posts.

I was able to speak to a Senior Apple Tech Specialist. She was aware of this problem and was going to escalate it to their engineering department. I figure the more people call in, the more attention will be brought to this and hopefully Apple issues a fix/software update very soon.

I'm not sure as they transferred me around. Either Technical Support or Warranty should get you to you right place. Just let them know you have already done all of the troubleshooting and you want to report the problem.

I Talked to a senior advisor but he claims there are no known similar issues. He offered to replace my phone and theN he said to contact BMW to see if they need to issue a firmware update. i offered to send him the link to this website to prove there are others with similar issues. The more of us call/report the quicker they'll come up with a solution.
