Q: MacBook Pro (2010)

Hi everyone!

I have my MacBook Pro since 2010. A few days back I decided to update the OS to El Capitan. Everything went ok, but when the update was done I noticed that something was wrong with iPhoto. It looks like the version I had was no longer compatible with the new OS.

Problem: When I try to update iPhoto I'm asked to enter my apple ID and password. After that a message appears:

UPDATE UNAVAILABLE WITH THIS APPLE ID

This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.

None of the "options" listed makes any sense to me... Someone with the same problem?

Thank you all for your attention!

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

if I were you then I would ask in the macbook pro forum rather then the boot camp forum which is about running windows on mac computers

but it sounds like iPhoto was downloaded from mac app store with another appleID then you have setup in system preferences so to upgrade iPhoto to the new photo app you will likely need to use the first appleID or purchase the photo app with the new appleID

Photos, a replacement for iPhoto, should be available and included in OS X. Create a Time Machine backup of OS X, drag the current Photo/iPhoto to Trash and empty it, try to download Photos from App Store with the Apple ID tied to your account or re-install El Capitan. Test.
