the system extension "system/library/extensions/ftdiusbserialdriver.kext" was installed

MacBook Pro running 10.9 is showing the following message:

the system extension "system/library/extensions/ftdiusbserialdriver.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. please try reinstalling it, or contact the products vendor for an update.

Does anybody have any idea as to what causes this or which programme this is related to? Or how to fix?
