Sep 17, 2016 4:16 AM in response to sabfaby Diana.McCall,Hi. Does it actually change the volume as shown by slider in Control Center? Swipe up then left to see it. I think it may just be that the music is louder, more deeply modulated. Not much you can do about that.

Sep 17, 2016 4:55 AM in response to Diana.McCallby sabfa,It actually raises 4 or 5 bars. Can I set it to one setting for all the apps to use?
-
Sep 17, 2016 5:11 AM in response to sabfaby Diana.McCall,I'm not sure what "bars" you're referring to. The volume slider in Control Center (iOS 10) has no bars. But those apps may have their own volume control that overrides the main one. If you adjust the volume inside the app, it should remember that setting when you reopen the app.

Sep 17, 2016 5:18 AM in response to Diana.McCallby Diana.McCall,I just tried YouTube, using the app, and no change in the set volume. Of course, the ad is louder than the video, but thats just normal TV practice.
Can you describe a specific situation where this happen? Include your iOS version and all pertinent info.

Sep 18, 2016 5:24 PM in response to Diana.McCallby sabfa,I received 2 imessages and I couldn't hear the notification so I raised the volume/sound effects to 4 bars. I launch the YouTube app and it's at 7 bars. How can I set one volume that all apps use instead of setting each app separately?
How are your volume settings set.
Thanks

Sep 18, 2016 5:36 PM in response to sabfaby Diana.McCall,First, can you please give the version of iOS that you're using. Second, there are two volume settings. The main volume control is the one in the Control Center, or on the Lock screen. The volume for sounds is in Settings > Sounds, and can be independent of the main control. So they can be louder or softer than music or videos. My sounds are set to half level, which is pretty soft. The main volume is pretty high. Neither one changes when I run different apps (YouTube, Slacker radio, videos in Chrome).
Could you take a screenshot showing the "bars" on your volume control? Try to avoid any personal data.

Sep 18, 2016 6:02 PM in response to Diana.McCallby sabfa,Sorry I forgot to mention I'm using ios 10.
Does it make a difference if I use the "manual" controls to the right of the iPad to raise/decrease the volume. Does this override other volume settings?
Also, I noticed in this ios that when I'm in Youtube and music, each app has a volume slider for it. Prior, there was only one slider for all.

Sep 18, 2016 7:15 PM in response to sabfaby Diana.McCall,I think you're overthinking this way too much. Except for sounds, there is one control for volume in iOS 10, just like before. If you use the buttons on the side, they adjust the volume slider. When you play video or music from an app, its name appears in the Control Center, but that does not change the volume control. It does not mean there are different controls for the different apps. If some apps are louder than others, it's because their content is louder, same as TV commercials are louder than programs.
