No headphone audio bug on iOS 10
I updated to iOS 10 and ever since occasionally there is no headphone audio. I reboot my phone and it works fine.
This happens randomly and occasionally.
Anyone else getting this?
iPhone 6s, iOS 10

Same proplem on iphone 6s 64.
The problem occurs when the earpods are connected, but it happens sometimes. I make or receive several calls without problem and then suddenly the problem occurs.
At the time of problem existence I proceed to the following steps:
1. iphone without connected earpods
2. No sound during call
3. Press of speakerphone (speakerphone on) and the sound is recovered
4. Press of speakerphone (speakerphone off) and the sound is ok
5. Connect the earpods and there is no sound at earpods
6. Disconnect the earpods and the sound problem still exists.
7. Press of speakerphone (speakerphone on) and the sound is recovered.
I have also the same problem when watching video on YouTube.
Have you updated to 10.0.2?
Thank you deggie for your reply.
I update to 10.0.2, but the problem still exists!
I've seen this three times in the last week (I upgraded on the 17th or 18th). It has happened once with the Music app (and headphones) and twice with the Podcasts app (ones with headphones, once with speaker). All three times, I could play audio from other apps, but all tracks or podcasts within the offending app just played silence. Restarting helped each time. Other things I've tried to no avail: plugging/unplugging headphones, force quitting app, adjusting volume.
It seemed to start when I plugged it into a public computer for power and accidentally said ok to "trust this computer". But given that I had upgraded only 24 hours before, perhaps this is just a coincidence. And since other people are having similar issues, maybe it's unrelated.
iPhone 6s, 64GB with ~15 GB free space, running 10.0.1.
I also still experience this on iOS 10.0.2 on my iP6S+.
As noted above, turning speaker phone on, then off, resolves the issue for me temporarily.
If it is other things than phone call, rebooting the phone solves it temporarily, but it keeps coming back.
I got exactly the same problem. Running Iphone 6s, IOS 10.0.2. Phone doesn’t switch automatically between Bluetooth, internal speaker / mic and wired headset. Only way to get sound and mic to work in a phone call using headset is to toggle speaker phone on / off. I have reset all settings on the phone twice to no avail. Have tried to erase all Bluetooth settings but doesn’t help either.
Same problem here, but Your proposed "workaround" works (but i have to do it every time someone calls me). Indeed annoying and i hope there will come a solution real soon.
Same here.
There is another thread explaining this very same bug:
Same problem here. iPhone 6s Plus. Used headset to make several calls and it was fine. Then nothing. Tried other headsets and switching to speakerphone. No change. Did hard reset. I use the headset for safety reasons. This is happening on a regular basis and needs to be fixed.
Even im getting the same. It Annoys me everyday.
I have exactly the same issue since updating to IOS10 and still there with 10.1.1. Happens with spotify too which shows as playing through headphones but no sound but can fix with reboot. Contacted apple support who ran checks on the phone and identified it as a 'software conflict'. They kindly offered to 'fix' by issuing a replacement phone for £279 .... which I declined. 😮 Feel that it'd be better if they fixed the bug in their update!
I, too, am having this problem. It's now December and I have IOS 10.1.1. Does anyone from APPLE monitor this chat board? It's pathetic that what is clearly a software bug has yet to be fixed.
IF YOU ARE WITH APPLE AND MONITORING THIS BOARD, CAN YOU PLEASE CONFIRM THAT THE BUG IS BEING WORKED ON? If so, when will a fix be released?
Only our hosts are here along with some specialists that answer questions that go unanswered after 24 hours. Neither group would be able to answer your question and Apple does not give estimates when fixes will be released.
Thank you for the response -- even if it disappointing. Any suggestions on how to get this in Apple's current work queue would be welcome. It's an extraordinarily disruptive problem.
Not everyone is experiencing it which makes it difficult to isolate. Go here https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html and provide as much information as possible or call AppleCare and do the same.
