Cannot connect to Airport Extreme after iOS 10 Update

Hey guys.

OK Not sure if anyone else is having this issue but since the IOS 10 update i cannot connect to my Airport Extreme my wife cannot either.

We both have iPhone 6 plus 64gb & updated at the same time.

We have an Airport extreme 802.11 ac also an airport extreme dual band & an airport express which neither of us can connect to.

We can connect to the Home Hub 6 provided by our broadband provider with no issues but thats only in one part of the house we can't connect in my Office or the rear of the house.

Tried resetting network settings on the phone thought i would ask before having to try resetting the base stations back to factory settings.

Thank you

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

FWIW, I have upgraded my iPhone 5 SE and iPad Pro to iOS 10 as well, but am not experiencing any issues connecting to any of my AirPort base stations for Wi-Fi access.

Do either of your iPhones have any issues connecting to other Wi-Fi networks in addition to the Home Hub? That is, are they only having issues connecting to your AirPort base stations? If so, do you have someone nearby that also has an AirPort wireless network that you can check your iPhones with?

In the meantime, let's take a look at your current network configuration. We know that you have, at least, three AirPort base stations. What is the exact models of the non-802.11ac Extreme and the Express?

Are these base station all interconnected back to the Home Hub using Ethernet? Are they all configured for a roaming type network?

Hi Tesserax.

no the phones have no issue connecting to any other networks unfortunately I'm the only person i know who uses Airport devices so being able to test on other Airports is not an option.

Yes these base stations are all connected back to the home hub via cat 6 gigabit ethernet cables newly installed a couple of months ago.

As for exact models the 802.11 ac is the tall Airport extreme a1521 & the dual band is the flat one a1408 they are the ones in the house & are set up as the same network but are separate network to the home hub basically they are used as private networks for the family the home hub is used for guests ETC.

Its this network we seem to be having issues with connection after iOS 10 upgrade on phones.

Macbook air & both kids iPads connect fine one iPad was updated & that connects ok its just the iPhones.

Never had to set up a roaming type network they all pretty much set themselves up via the airport utility didn't see option roaming network.

Ok, thanks for the additional details. I understand you overall network better now. Are all of the AirPort base stations configured as bridges? That is, in the AirPort Utility, is the Router Mode = Off (Bridge Mode)? Or are any or all of them configured for Router Mode = DHCP and NAT?

Understood. It appears that some others have posted a similar issue with the iOS 10 upgrade. They were not limited to the iPhone, but to iPads as well. Not a lot of reports, but a few have trickled in so it's hard to tell if this is a trend yet.

There is no "roaming" option per se. Apple sort of hides that away. What you would have to look for is the following wording in the AirPort Utility when you go through its automated steps: Setting up this AirPort <Time Capsule, Extreme, or Express> to extend "<the other base station's name>" using Ethernet. Not very intuitive, is it?

I Am also having an issue with my AirPort Extreme Base Station. I am able to connect wirelessly to both 5Ghz & 2.4Ghz bands using my iPhone & iPad (IOS10). The issue is the AirPort Utility can no longer find the Base Station! I've tried resetting my network settings on the iPad & iPhone, I've also power cycled the Base Station & nothing seems to work. I've even tried using my Mac Mini Airport Utility (Wireless) everthing connects using wireless but nothing can find the Base Station to configure it. Everything worked fine before September did Apple update this device? That's the only thing I can think of, because my Mini hasn't been upgraded & it also cannot connect

Same problem since yesterday with my iPad Pro on 10.1.1 connecting to my bridge mode TimeCapsule. I've tried all of the resetting tricks to no avail. iPhone 5s on 10.1.1 is fine on the network, Mac with 10.12.1 is fine, and iPad Pro is fine with my cheapy non-Apple wifi network upstairs. I did get it to connect to the network a couple of times, only for an orange no-internet-connection message to appear under the network name. TimeCapsule firmware is 7.7.7.

Very annoying
