Q: Keyboard/trackpad doesn't always work when waking from sleep on 2015 Macbook Pro Retina 13
Some other people had the same problem a while back, but none of their solutions worked for me
1. External keyboards and mice work
2. Sometimes the trackpad works again after I leave it for several seconds, but it usually doesn't work again until I force a restart by holding down the power button a minute later
3. Sometimes the trackpad works, but gestures won't work and the cursor movement is weird
4. The power button always works - I can pull up the shutdown menu, but I can't select anything without an external keyboard or trackpad
My setup:
All Apple updates
Sometimes I run Windows 10 Pro in Parallels (latest version)
Applications that might be causing issues:
Office 2016 for Mac
F.lux
QuickRes
Google Chrome browser
Private Tunnel VPN app
Note that the problem still happens even when Parallels and Office 2016 for Mac aren't open
Note that I sometimes press Control + Shift + Power to lock my Mac, but although it worked before, now whenever I do that, instead of locking it, it instantly turns off.
I tried resetting the SMC, but that didn't do anything either.
Note that everything usually works again after a restart, but one time it didn't so I booted into recovery mode and it worked again
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)
