Deleting a contact with iOS 10?

I am running iOS 10 on an iPhone 6s. Whenever I try to delete a contact, by hitting edit the contact, there is no delete contact option like there was previously. If I delete out the name and such, save the contact, and then try to edit it again, there is a delete contact option. However then when I delete it, Nothing happens and the contact is still there in my address book. Help please!
