Q: Will iPad 3rd Gen Continue to get Patches

I know it will never get iOS 10, but will Apple release security patches and bug fixes for older iOS devices?  I know they did for old OS X systems for a while.

 

Will their continue to be patches for iOS devices that can't handle iOS 10?

We are end-users like you so we have no special knowledge of what Apple will or won't do. Like you I know they have issued security updates for older OSX versions several steps back but we will have to wait and see. I am in the same boat. I have an iPad 2 that runs great with iOS9 but I don't use it enough to justify upgrading to a newer model that will run iOS 10.
