Q: iOS 10 carplay offline music

Hi everybody,

iOS 9 was very good with CarPlay, i saw the complete icloud music library (is activated in options). If i connected the iPhone (6) with my car, is saw ONLY the Offline library in the menu of CarPlay, only the downloaded music was shown.

iOS 10 with CarPlay? I can ONLY see the complete library. No menu to the see only the offline music. In iOS 10 in the music app i can switch between complete library and the loaded music.

How can i change it? I mean, i don't want to see all the 200 artists/1000 albums in CarPlay.

iPhone 6, iOS 10

Same issue if use the iPhone with iOS 10 as "iPod" Player connected to the car audio (not CarPlay).

In former iOS versions, I can chose in music app only to use downloaded music - and so only the local stored music on the iPhone was shown in car audio.

In iOS 10 all music is shown and causes dead links if I choose a not downloaded song.

I have the same issue as well.  The IOS 10 Music app Library has the Downloaded Music option to show only what's on your phone, but this option does not show up on the CarPlay screen when connected. It only shows Artists, Playlists, Albums & Songs. Why does it omit Downloaded Music?

This is an important missing feature for CarPlay because if you listen to music that's not downloaded, you will use your cellular data. In IOS 9, you would see your downloaded music if you had the music app set to only show it. Hopefully Apple will include the option to select Downloaded Music in a future release.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem. It's bad enough that even with all the Apple Music garbage turned off the music on my iPhone is relegated to a sub-section called "Downloaded (?) Music", but now, even with cell data OFF for music, there is no way to not show all the music in my iTunes account through CarPlay. This is VERY frustrating.

I synced that specific music from iTunes to the iPhone I use in my car because that's the music I want to listen to in my car. No Wi-fi, no cellular data, no cloud, just my music I decided I want to listen to. You know, like the very first iPod was able to do. Why is this so hard Apple?

Same problem for me on Audi MMI, and when you turn off Apple Car Play and browse the phone as an iPod, same problem.

Please guys don't forget to report the bug on Apple Bug Report https://bugreport.apple.com/ if you have an Apple Dev' Account or here for the others.

Same issue with Hyundai i30 2011 (Original hyundai ipod dock)

    I can't browse only offline content, and i can't use stering wheel control when i select a track directly from the phone in shuffle mode (following track didn't follow the queue, it's completly random without reason);

I hope Apple will fix compatibilities with car stereo....

Ipod ready function with car stereo is probably the main reason why i'm iphone and apple music user....if with any upgrade compatibility goes mad....i think it's better to using BT+Android+Spotify....

Hi All, I took advantage of my 90 days of support for my iPhone 7 and logged a support case for this issue with Apple. They have passed this issue on to Apple Engineering. I should hear something back from them in the next few days and will pass along what they say or advise.

I heard back from Apple regarding the support case I opened for this issue. They said the normal behavior is to show the entire music library through CarPlay, and that if we want to be able to have the functionality option to only show downloaded music, we should submit feedback asking for this.

Everyone please be sure to submit feedback regarding this issue at the appropriate links posted earlier in this tread. The ability to view and select only downloaded music is definitely a necessary capability so cellular data usage can be minimized while listening to music through CarPlay.  And we previously had this capability in IOS 9.

I have submitted a bug report explaining that the Only Offline Music option needs to be added back in to the Music options list. It is ridiculous to expect a customer to want to see all hundreds of artists and all thousands of songs in their account when they could, for example, in a non data roaming environment when travelling or simply connecting to their car's infotainment system or just listening to music with mobile data switched off.
