I'm getting push notifications for junk mail!

I'm using an iPhone 5s with ios 10 but the problem started on 9 and i just hoped it would go away. On my lock screen and in notification center i am getting notifications about junk mail. I don't get badge notifications about this junk mail and they do not appear in my main inbox. I use a gmail address.
