Q: iOS 10.0.1 - Cannot Restore Backup
Hi All,
I've been on the phone to Apple for over an hour today to no avail - there seems to be an issue with restoring an iCloud backup when running iOS 10.0.1.
Here's my scenario: I received my iPhone 7 yesterday, backed up my iPhone 6s to iCloud (running iOS 10.0.1), then attempted to restore the backup on the new iPhone 7 (running iOS 10). I was promoted to update to iOS 10.0.1, which I did. I carried on with the restore once updated... no joy! After watching it count down from an hour to 1 minute, I was faced with the 'Cannot Restore Backup' message.
I then decided to backup the iPhone 6s to iTunes and restore the iPhone 7 from there... success! I trialled the iPhone 7 for 5 minutes or so to check everything was well, before erasing the iPhone 6s.
On to my Apple Watch... spent a short while re-pairing with the new iPhone, before realising something... all my Health and Fitness data was missing. ****, I hadn't carried out an 'encrypted' backup from the old iPhone. So my only chance of reviving a year and a half's worth of running, cycling etc. data is the backup to iCloud.
So I reach out to the collective... has anyone faced and overcome this?
