Q: Problems with phone signal and mobile data

I keep losing my phone signal so I am constantly re-setting the network setting which is  a nightmare as I am missing calls and texts (this never happened with my Nokia!).

Also, I do not have a data package yet my iPhone keeps switching to mobile data - how do I stop it doing that?

iPhone SE, iOS 9.3.5

    Hi ValeryC,

I understand how important keeping a cellular signal on your device is to receive your text messages and phone calls. If your network provider has confirmed there are no issues with the cellular service, please try the steps in the links below to resolve the issue.

If you can‘t connect to a cellular network or cellular data

Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad

You may also want to update your device to the new and improved iOS 10! Update to iOS 10

Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

To prevent your mobile data from being used. Go to Settings > Cellular on your iPhone or Settings > Cellular Data on your iPad, then tap Cellular Data.

You can temporarily turn off cellular data to prevent apps from using the cellular network to send or receive data. Here's what happens when you turn off cellular data:
You won't see the cellular data icons in the status bar (for example, LTE or 3G).
You won't be able to send or receive MMS messages. You can still send and receive SMS and iMessages (text or multimedia) when connected to a Wi-Fi network.
You won't be able to retrieve or listen to new Visual Voicemail messages.
You won't be able to use Personal Hotspot.

This should have your iPhone connected to your carrier network in no time as well as preventing unwanted data usage from being used. Thanks for using Apple Support Communities to post your question.

    Have a nice day.
