Same problem here. iPhone 7 plus 32 Go, Very looong charging and anormal battery drop (must be charged again 7 hours after a full charging cycle, then drops from 28% to 15% in less than 40 minutes without any use at all !) I wanted to keep the last 10% by turning it off, but it was impossible to power on again. Impossible to get an appointment at the Genius bar (5 Apple store in my aera). Is it Apple or Samsung here ?

Same here. From 100% to 16% in 2 hrs and super super hot on the back. Was only browsing thru email. Also, half of my apps are not downloading. Reset the phone twice. No change. "Hey Siri" (vice recognition does not work). tried > than ten times to set it up. Kept asking to do it again. Product is a big disappointment.

I had the same problem with my 7 Plus. It started getting warm whenever I would charge it. Then by day 4 the battery went from 53% to dead by the end of the day. I had been busy so didn't use the phone all day. I tried to charge it but it would get very hot and only charge to 3% and shut off because it was too hot to use. This went on all day and I spent several hours on the phone with Apple and they finally said they'd sent me a replacement but that they would be putting a charge of $869 on my cc until they could check out the first phone to see if I had damaged it, such as dropping it in water. I baby all my phones and this phone was never dropped at all, let alone into water. Unfortunately, I live 5 hours away from an Apple store so they couldn't see it and since it wouldn't charge, they couldn't do a diagnostic.

So I got my new replacement a couple days ago and put it on the charger and it did NOT get warm at all. It's now charging again 2 days later and it's not warm at all.

There seems to be a lot of defective iPhone 7 and 7 Plus out in the wild. I've had iPhones since 2008 and this has been my first defective unit.

Have a look here...

Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures - Apple Support

When you use the device or charge the battery, the device might get warm. You might notice that your device feels warmer in these situations:

  • When you set up your device the first time
  • When you restore from a backup
  • When apps reindex or reanalyze data, like Photos tagging for faces, places, or keywords after a software update

These conditions are normal, and your device will return to a regular temperature when complete. Here are some of the higher ambient-temperature conditions and activities that might cause the device to change performance and behavior:

  • Leaving the device in a car on a hot day.
  • Leaving the device in direct sunlight for an extended period of time.
  • Using certain features in hot conditions or direct sunlight for an extended period of time, such as GPS tracking or navigation in a car, or playing a graphics-intensive game.
