I received my also on Thursday and it been a big problem in terms of the phone temperature. Side by side with my i phone 6s, i phone 7 is a big big problem.
I charged them both at the same time 100%.
3hrs later: i phone 6s = 90% (played youtube)
i phone 7= 25% and very hot ( without using)( even during charging, it is also very hot)
Please can apple do something about this. Just getting scare that it will not be like samsung exploding note
😠
I brought the phone to the Apple store today and was told that the logic board was fried. Of course they didn't have any in stock so I got a refund and i'm back to using my 6.
I had a hot 7+ and it discharged the battery fast. Overnight it only charged to about 70%. I took it to the store and they swapped it out. I had shut it off with a bit of battery left but it wouldn't turn back on at the store even after charging.
So is apple just not responding to this? I got my iphone 7 plus today. All i did was set it up and the battery almost died. now it has been charging for 30 mins and only gone up 5%. It also feels like it's going to catch fire. Anyone heard anything else about this?
I got my iPhone 7 two days ago and have had the same issue. I just tried charging it again this morning and WITHOUT using it I got the temperature warning and had to shut my phone off to let it cool down. At this point I'm probably using it less than I did my iPhone 6 and it's still overheating. What gives??
Before anyone else asks why is Apple not responding; Did anyone ask Apple directly because this is a user to user forum, we are volunteers, we do not work for Apple Computer. Apple does not respond to anything here so if you need to contact them either call them using the contact us link at the bottom of this page or send feedback to them from apple.com/feedback. I've the same problem with my iPhone 7 128GB
I tried to restore it without using the backup. Didnt help 😟
Same problem after installing iOS 10.1 Beta...
I Had this issue and concern as well but when I updated to 10.0.2 it seems my battery life was restored and I've had no further overheating issues. Did anyone experience that change ?
Same problem here. iPhone 7 plus 32 Go, Very looong charging and anormal battery drop (must be charged again 7 hours after a full charging cycle, then drops from 28% to 15% in less than 40 minutes without any use at all !) I wanted to keep the last 10% by turning it off, but it was impossible to power on again. Impossible to get an appointment at the Genius bar (5 Apple store in my aera). Is it Apple or Samsung here ?
I am having the same issue. Just received my phone and it is running very hot and the battery has drained very quickly.
Same here. From 100% to 16% in 2 hrs and super super hot on the back. Was only browsing thru email. Also, half of my apps are not downloading. Reset the phone twice. No change. "Hey Siri" (vice recognition does not work). tried > than ten times to set it up. Kept asking to do it again. Product is a big disappointment.
I had a similar experience and dropped by my local Apple Store and they swapped it out after looking at it and hearing my story.
I had the same problem with my 7 Plus. It started getting warm whenever I would charge it. Then by day 4 the battery went from 53% to dead by the end of the day. I had been busy so didn't use the phone all day. I tried to charge it but it would get very hot and only charge to 3% and shut off because it was too hot to use. This went on all day and I spent several hours on the phone with Apple and they finally said they'd sent me a replacement but that they would be putting a charge of $869 on my cc until they could check out the first phone to see if I had damaged it, such as dropping it in water. I baby all my phones and this phone was never dropped at all, let alone into water. Unfortunately, I live 5 hours away from an Apple store so they couldn't see it and since it wouldn't charge, they couldn't do a diagnostic.
So I got my new replacement a couple days ago and put it on the charger and it did NOT get warm at all. It's now charging again 2 days later and it's not warm at all.
There seems to be a lot of defective iPhone 7 and 7 Plus out in the wild. I've had iPhones since 2008 and this has been my first defective unit.
Have a look here...

Indeed, same problem here. Two iPhone 7s, one of them can't hold a charge beyond six hours total (use/non-use) and the other one is absolutely fine. The errant phone also gets really hot with any kind of use.
