I was experiencing the same issue with my phone running hot, even while not in use and sitting in my pocket. I found that my issue was being caused by email and calendar syncing. I had 16 calendars (some personal, some shared), plus 8 emails that were all syncing every 15 minutes. I deleted a few calendars and email addresses, and increased my fetch time from 15 minutes to 30 and my phone has been running cool ever since.

I have the same issues with my phone. I bought a pink case and the case turned brown from the phone getting to hot. I brought the phone into the Apple Store and the tech said the phone is fine. He checked for issues but could not find or confirm any. I plugged the phone in to charge it without the case as suggested by the tech and iit heated up within a minute of charging. Something is definitely wrong I've had the iPhone 7s for two months.

I just got my brand new iPhone 7 (132 GB)and although I haven't noticed significant decreases in battery life, mine also gets really, REALLY hot. It gets so hot that if I leave it sitting on my skin like of on my thigh or something my skin will turn pink. I'm scared to leave it alone while it charges- what if it catches fire?? Also it can't find any Bluetooth devices so I don't know what that's about.

Mine gets REALLY hot but only when using the phone in normal mode. If I switch to speaker phone it cools down. My wife and I bought our phones last month and hers doesn't do this. The only difference is that I installed the latest iOS update on mine. Very frustrating after spending $1400 on phones. Our Androids never had problems. Feeling pretty stupid right now.

This is normal temperature for a device that is being constantly used for the first time. After buying my matte black iPhone 7 Plus, the temperatures got extremely got and what I'd do is close out every app and put the phone down for a while. This wore off after a while and no longer gets hot UNLESS using it for a prolonged amount of time.

Take warm/hot iPhone back. I bought a brand-new iPhone 7, brought it home and found it got warm under the home button and then the whole phone heated up just on standby. Did everything they told me to during the two Apple service sessions I had, turned everything off I could. Phone asleep in my purse with nothing running at a work conference when I was on my work iPhone 6 all day and the 2 day old 7 was hot in my purse and the battery was drained. Took it back to the store and the technician tried to fix by reloading operating system etc. Finally gave up and said he was going to give me a new phone – I have the new phone, it is perfect! No heat runs well I'm on the second day without a charge and still have 2/3 battery. If you have this issue take the phone back.

I too have been experiencing this. I called the help line and after analysing my phone said my battery was fine - despite it dropping 1% every minute! the consultant told me that it's probably because I use Facebook or messenger in conjunction with 4G that puts demands on my battery.

My response was that of all the iPhones I've owned I haven't changed my app usage and this phone is the only time I've had this. So he booked me in to an Apple Store to follow up...

And this is what I think fixed it for me...

The guy at the Apple Store noticed that my phone seemed to always be using my location services.. always sending out and receiving location information...

He advised me to back up and restore my phone.. after doing that my phone was still arbitrarily using location services.. then after investigating and trial and error I think I pin pointed it to the "system services " under privacy - location settings...

I went in and turned every one of these system services off including "frequent locations" which seems to always be working.. since then I haven't had any issues...

It's only been a day but so far so good..

So if you're phone is hot and draining, check up the top for your location services icon arrow.. if it's on, then it could be that for you too
