Q: iTunes requires back up password on new laptop

Hi,

 

I have a new laptop with a new install of iTunes. I am trying to back up my iPhone 6 and it requires a password.

 

Facts:

> There are no current back files with iTunes

> The iPhone was backed up previously using a password on a laptop that died

> The same behavior repeat it self on other Windows 10 devices the phone was never connected to

 

Now, I must assume that some "encrypted back up" flag is on the phone vs. only on the specific hardware it is backed up on. I know the password used on the previous laptop and it is not working. NOTE: I am not trying to restore but to create new back up. I tried the passcode on the phone, windows password (per advice in older similar threads) - none of those work.

 

Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.
