Bricked after trying to update to WatchOS 3

User uploaded file

I attempted to update my Apple Watch from watchOS 2.2.1 to watchOS 3. During the update process on the watch itself the circular loading bar got stuck about 1/4 of the way through. After waiting almost an hour, I tried to cancel the update from my phone to no avail. The only option I had left was a force restart on the watch itself. After the restart my watch displayed the image shown above. Performing successive force restarts only brings me back to this same screen upon boot up.

Hi

As force restarting your watch has not helped, I'm afraid that you will need to contact Apple Support or make a Genius Bar reservation for assistance:

I also encountered the same problem. Apple HK then sent my problematic watch to Apple Singapore for repair. However, Apple Singapore confirmed that the watch was not repairable. I eventually needed to pay HKD 1968 (About USD 252) to get a refurbished Apple Watch. It is really unfair! It is hard to believe that customer needs to pay to buy another watch if the update process fails.

Has anyone else also experienced the same problem?
