What does a blinking green light signify on the iPod Shuffle 4th Gen?

When listening to songs on my iPod Shuffle 4th gen, the light blinks green (connected to headphones, not USB port on computer). I thought it was supposed to stay green. What does a blinking green light mean? Thanks.

When playing the shuffle, the light typically indicates battery charge level. Green means strong charge (I think above 25%). It goes to orange, and then red (very low charge). While playing songs, it should not stay ON or blink continuously, unless you are pressing control buttons.
