Q: Transfer from one iPhone to another

Hello all,

this is my first post here, but I am sure the members here know some stuff ;-)

I have had an iPhone 6 for 2 years now and due to some issues got a replacement. I backed up my old one and transferred all the data to the new one. I keep all my apps and info within an iTunes back up and I download all my apps to my computer.

When I restored I noticed iTunes was only restoring 71 of my 213 apps. The rest downloaded. I know I downloaded all my apps, so why did some restore through my iTunes while hooked up, but some need to download?

Also, I noticed that my phone now has 10 GB more available than before. I checked everything and all apps, data and so on is there... is this all the cache being deleted? I mean I used the phone for two years, so that is my only explanation.

Thanks all for the support!

It is possible that iTunes did not have the most current apps and thus they needed to be downloaded. Have you updated your apps in iTunes?

As for the space difference that may be due the "Other" space being deleted and rebuilt. Prior versions of IOS did not do a very good job of managing that space, not sure about IOS 10.

If all your apps and data are there I would say that everything is OK. But you may want to go into iTunes and update the apps on the App page.

Wow okay, yeah that must be it. I didn't update them before. I thought they would install and then update on the phone.

Yeah I am guessing it is the "Other" data that was deleted. Just didn't think it would be that much!

    Thanks!
