Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support
If they don't work, open Terminal.app then type:
sudo killall coreaudiod(you are required to type admin password)
then reboot MacBook Pro could solve the problem.

Sep 18, 2016 5:36 AM in response to kaz-kby sandmason,Thanks. I guess I'll take it to an Apple store, none of the above worked. I wasn't able to type anything in Terminal.app but I did try all three approaches. I need a new one anyway.
