5s suddenly re-boots, then asks for activation...(re-activation, basically)

I was in the middle of a phone call (phone call was obviously dropped) when my 5s suddenly re-boots and then asks for me to activate it. I had no other option except to enter my apple user id and password and then the phone went back into a normal state like that never even happened. I have had the 5s for a few years now and its the only 5s I have had.

I have pre-ordered a 7 Plus that is due to for delivery sometime in November.

Why did my phone do this? Some screw-up to do with pre-order?

Hello bigfree123,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having an issue with your iPhone 5s is not what you expect. Based on what you stated, it seems you may be having issues with your iPhone restarting unexpectedly and asking for activation. Since this sounds like a software issue, I would recommend making a backup of your personal data:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Then use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iOS software to factory settings, as this process erases the information and settings on your device and installs a fresh copy of the latest iOS software. During the setup process, use the backup you just made to put your personal data back on your iPhone 5s.

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

Cheers!
