is there an iMovie output format that doesn't require Quicktime for windows network viewers
viewers of an iMovie can not view movie on apple web server hosted on my Mac Mini web server

In iMovie 10 if you share to file and choose Low, Medium or High (but not Best(ProRes)) quality, the video file will be .mp4 which does not require Quicktime to play.
It is easy to convert a Quicktime (.mov) file to mp4 using third party applications like Handbrake.
If you still have problems the free VLC player will play the video on Windows.
