Why can't I see my friends activity rings in the activity app

MY girlfriend and I both updated our watches to OS3 and our phones to ios 10. I want to be able for us to share our activity rings while I travel. We set the sharing up in the activity app on both our phones properly, she can see my activity rings along with her own however on my phone I only see my rings. Her rings all show 0.. she shared her activity with a coworker and she could see his also but he couldnt see hers.

The only peculiar thing we noticed was a line on her "Me" page in the shared activity section that stated "You may also be sharing your activity from another device signed into your iCloud account". I say peculiar because she has only one watch associated to her account and it's the only watch shown in her device list.

SO far I've stumped the local Apple Store peeps, and I figured I would since both operatlong systems are so new, but had to try here and s e if anyone else had seen this problem.

thanks for reading,

Im not able to connect with my friends at all. They said they have accepted my request but I still don't see anything. I had one send me a request and I see she sent it but there is a spinning circle and it won't stop spinning. I've unpaired and re-paired my watch and it's still spinning. On my watch I only see my activity. Any have this issue or know how I can resolve?

Well, I solved my problem by doing what you did. I unpaired my watch and repaired it. Then I had my girlfriend do the same. She then initiated the sharing by sending me an invite. I accepted it and voila, now we can both see each other's activity. I'm not getting any notifications from here goals or achievements, but one problem at a time I guess.

As for your spinning circle, best I can say is that is usually a "communication" problem, such as bluetooth is not connected or wifi, or cellular. One of those things is not allowing the phone and/or watch to communicate with the online services properly. At least that has been my experience. Fixing that problem is a process too. I usually would turn off one at a time and then back on to see if any changes occurred. Past that, a hard reboot of the offending device usually cleared it up.

Hi funkypickl,

The activity app is such a great way to share your progress between friends and family! There could be a couple reasons on why you are unable to see your girlfriend's activity and progress. It can be quite possible that the activity may be hidden from your view deliberately. Or you may have a pending invite that you did not accept from your girlfriend to view the activity. Finally, having a stable internet or data connection is necessary to get updates and activity progress. Please take a quick look at the link below for some tips that should resolve your issue.

Share your Activity with your Apple Watch

Pay special attention to the following below found in the article above

To check pending invitations,

Open the Activity app, tap the Sharing tab, then tap Sharing. After your friends accept the invite, they appear in the Sharing section of the Activity app on your iPhone.

Stop sharing or hide your progress
To stop sharing activity:
Open the Activity app on your iPhone.
Tap Sharing, then tap your friend.
Tap Remove Friend. If you do this, they can't see your activity, and you can't see their activity. To start sharing again, send your friend a new invite.
To hide your activity:
Open the Activity app on your iPhone.
Tap Sharing, then tap the friend that you want to hide your activity from.
Tap Hide my Activity. You can still see your friend's activity, but they won't see your activity.
To start sharing again, tap Show my Activity.

Get help with Activity Sharing

Activity Sharing requires iOS 10 and watchOS 3. If you paired more than one Apple Watch to your iPhone, the Sharing tab won't appear in Activity until you update all your watches to watchOS 3.
If you can’t add a friend, make sure that they have an Apple Watch and that you haven’t added the maximum number of friends. You can add up to 25 friends.
As long as your iPhone can connect to the Internet and you're signed in to iCloud, you can get updates about your friends’ activity each day. If your iPhone can't connect for multiple days or you sign out of iCloud, you might see missing days.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities to post your question. This information should have you viewing your girlfriend's activity progress in no time!

Take care.

Hi Norm,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I have tried all of these steps, most of them several times.

I have no pending invites, and she is the only one showing up in the sharing section. I have deleted her and re-shared a couple times as well.

We both tried the hiding and then unhiding activity thing, and we can see when we hide it. When I unhide my activity she sees mine again but when she unhides hers I still see zeros for activity.

As for connectivity issues, there are none. We FaceTime with no issues on the same connections we have tried using for this sharing thing, LTE and WiFi, to no avail.

I appreciate the help so far, hopefully someone else will have some more ideas.
