Q: I need the songs I deleted off of my iPhone back

So, I have an iPhone 5c.  I decided that I wanted some of my songs (from iTunes) to be on my phone to listen to offline, so I put them into iTunes and then added them to "my device."  I quickly realized that I wanted to change the metadata, so I attempted to delete them.

I deleted them off of my phone, but they still show up in iTunes (on my computer) as being on "my device."  However, I cannot get them on my phone.  I specifically deleted them just so that I could re-add the proper versions with their proper metadata.

At this point, I just want to be able to put the songs on my phone.  I really just want to listen to them and I don't know why it's showing that they are there after they had been deleted.

    Hello Matt,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. I know how important syncing music from iTunes to your iPhone is to you! If I understand correctly, you are unable to sync music, as iTunes shows some songs on your iPhone that you had deleted are still on the iPhone. Here is what I suggest to resolve this issue and get you enjoying your music again!

    1. Plug your iPhone into iTunes, click on your device icon to go to your iPhone syncing options, click on Music in the left sidebar under Settings. Then uncheck the box for Sync Music and then click the Apply button in the bottom right and finish the sync.

Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB

    2. Leave your iPhone plugged into iTunes, but then go on your iPhone to Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage. Tap on Manage Storage in the Storage section, then find the Music app listed here and see if any songs are listed. If they are, swipe right to left on All Songs to delete them all at once. Then restart your device as the shut down and start up process is important to keep the iOS software running properly:

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    3. Once your iPhone restarts and appears in iTunes again, then try re-checking the Sync Music option, select the content you were having an issue with, and then sync this music and test if it plays on your iPhone.

    Cheers!

Basically, you can recover data from your device directly as long as they were not overwritten. Besides, if you have backed up your device with iTunes/iCloud, you will be able to retrieve these data from iTunes/iCloud backup file. So you can use a third-party program to recover your deleted songs from these three ways. Just have a try.
