So frustrating

Exactly the same problem as with everyone else - Podcasts appear at the top allegedly preparing to download - but nothing happens! I have to cancel the download and download manually from within the subscribed podcast.

Obviously time to download a third party podcast app!

I have the problem you describe when trying to download through wifi, but not over cellular. Connecting to a powersource before starting downloads seems to work. Still annoying to have to do this, but it's an interim fix.

I deleted the app from my iphone and iTunes, but when I tried to find it again to reinstall, I couldn't find it. Searched in iPhone apps, "podcast". Lots of podcast paid apps, not the original one.

I spent a long time on Apple Support chat yesterday.

My setup:

1) iPhone 7s

2) fully updated software

3) Podcast app version 2.6 (1150.47)

4) connected to power

5) Synch podcasts ON

6) have done hard restart multiple times

Tech had me restore all settings. It worked. Once. Today, the same problem has recurred.

Thats why I downloaded overcast above because apple can't be bothered to fix the joke that is podcast app!!!!!

Try these standard troubleshooting steps. You may also want to reset your router.

- Reset: hold down the Home and Power buttons until you see the Apple logo (10-15 seconds).

- Restore your iDevice: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204184

If your backup is to iTunes, make sure it's encrypted.

I Did..

I deleted the app and re-installed it. Looks like it's working now.

Did you remove the Apple Podcast app and reinstall it from the Apple store? Did you lose the podcast when you uninstalled the Apple Podcast app.

1. Yes I did

2. No. But the app downloaded a lot of old casts that I already have listned to. So I had a lot of erasing to do. But that was only a couple of minute of work.

Same Problem here.
I have configurated "manual sync". If I go 'sync' it shows "prepairing download", but don't download any of them.
I have to choose "stop download" and again "load", then it starts downloading.

I have to choos this for each one of the podcasts.

Apple shoud fix this fast ... I hope.

I deleted and re-installed podcast-app. First time it downloaded, after this, same error as before.

I have this problem too and it drives me crazy.

Details:

- iPhone 7 256mb

- iOS 10.1.1

- Verizon unlimited data plan

Repro:

- When the phone is freshly rebooted, the podcasts app works properly. As soon as it refreshes and finds a new podcast it immediately starts downloading.

- After the phone has been on for a day, maybe less this is what happens:

0. Precondition - connect to WiFi to avoid any question about the mobile network

1. Open the app

2. Note that it shows 8 podcasts downloads pending

3. Tap on the downloads

4. Note that it shows 8 podcasts all in "preparing to download" state

5. Attempt to restart the download by tapping a podcast to pause and tapping it again to resume.

6. Note that it still shows that podcast stuck in the "preparing to download" state

7. Navigate to that Podcast in the "my podcasts" or "unplayed" section and hit play (shows cloud icon indicating it has not been downloaded)

8. Note that it starts playing the podcast right away -- the radio works and the podcast app can download the podcast if you choose to play it. Only queued podcasts are stuck.

9. Reboot phone

10. Open podcast app

11. Note that podcasts immediately start downloading and are done in only a few seconds.

There's clearly a bug in the podcasts app.

Having same problem. Deleting and re-installing does not fix. All it says is "preparing to download" and never actually downloads unless I manually click on each podcast cancel download and then click again and download. Very annoying. Apple needs to fix ASAP.

Same issue here. Please fix.

Same issue, reinstalled and rebooted. After it reinitiated the first time, all proceeding auto download podcasts became "stuck" and would not completely download
