Q: How do I get the pictures of friends in iMessage?

I assigned pictures of my friends to their name instead of having their initials for iMessage on my iPhone 6, but it doesn't show up on the left side and there are no options of this on the phone.

iPhone 6, iOS 10

    Hi j_dubi1,

I understand that you are not seeing the pictures that you've assigned for your contacts show up next to them in Messages. I know it's nice to tell who you are talking to at a glance, so I'm happy to help.

Let's start by making sure that Messages knows to show the photos. To do this open Settings > Messages and enabled Show Contact Photos.

If you already had this enabled or are still not seeing them after turning it on, then let's make sure your display isn't zoomed in and causing issues with how these images are displayed. To do this, open  Settings > Display & Brightness > View  and make sure it's set to standard. If you have to change this setting, be sure to reboot your iPhone and test it out again.

If after going through these steps you still aren't seeing the images, let us know if you've attempted any other troubleshooting so that we can help.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!
