Q: iPhone 7 screen blackout

I was playing around with my new iPhone 7 and after testing the Retina Flash (the one that makes the screen blink bright white to simulate a flash for the front facing camera) the screen went totally black. My phone is still working (it emits sound and I can even see some pixels with a very bright external light) which makes me think that the screen backlight isn't. I just don't know if it is a software or hardware problem. Anyone had a similar problem?

    Try a force start. The method has been changed for the iPhone 7 so I'm including a quote from the iPhone User Guide. If the forced start (reset) doesn't work take the phone back to  the Apple Store.

     

    “Force restart iPhone. If iPhone isn’t responding, hold down these buttons at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears:

    The Sleep/Wake button and the Volume down button (iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus)”

    Thank you for your help! I was doing the force restart wrong, but even doing it right it didn't solved the problem. I'll be taking the iPhone to the Apple Store tomorrow, but thank you anyway!

    Went to the Apple Store today and they change it for a new one. But didn't know what caused the problem. Thank you anyway.
