The iPad 2 doesn't support iOS 10 (nor does the iPad 3), the highest version that it supports is 9.3.5 (which your tagline says that it's already on)

    No.

If you look at the complete list of iOS 10 compatible devices, the iPad 2, 3 and 1st gen iPad Mini have all be removed from iOS 10 compatibilty list.

They all share similar hardware that is not powerful enough to run iOS 10.

Here's the complete list of iDevices that ARE compatible with iOS 10.

What happens when you try to update it, and you are 100% sure that it's a Mini 2 ?

So , you think you have an iPad Mini 2 NOT an iPad 2.

These are two completely different model iPads! You need to supply the specific name of your iPad.

There are iPad 2, iPad Mini 2, iPad Air 2.

Are you sure you own an iPad Mini 2, now?

In Settings App, in the General Settings Panel, in the right hand column, tap About this iPad/Device and look for your model ID. It starts with an M.

Post the model number here in another reply.

I am sure it is an iPad Mini 2 model #MD531LL/A. And when I hit software update it says I have the most up to date version 9.3.5?

Sorry for the confusion about iPad vs IPad Mini...I forgot there even was an iPad 2 full size.

Your model number is for the 1st generation iPad Mini NOT an iPad Mini 2 (2nd generation).

Your model number is for a 16 GB, white, WiFi only 1st gen iPad Mini.

You have an original, 1st gen iPad Mini.

The 1st generation iPad Mini is NOT eligible for upgrading to iOS 10.

    Sorry.
