I understand you are trying to play individual songs that you have synced from your iTunes Library to your iPhone. You should be able to play individual songs regardless of what "category" of your library you are looking at (Playlists, Artists, Albums, Songs). I would suggest that you force quit the Music app and restart your iPhone.
Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Tap the Music app, tap Library, and tap Songs to test. Choose different songs to play than you did before. Does the issue persist?

thanks for your reply, but sadly that's not solved the problem, it's one of the first thing I tried.
ive also gone in to settings/music and turned off 'apple music' but still when ever I click on a track, it directs me to the screen above. Tried all sorts of tracks, same problem. I know there is nothing wrong with the music itself, because I can play the whole album, but just not select tracks.
I checked if it did the same on my girlfriends phone and it didn't. The only difference between us I can see, is that I had a trial membership of Apple Music that I've since cancelled, would that affect it?

Are you able to play individual tracks from other albums in your music collection? Was this album imported from a CD or purchased from the iTunes Store? If the issue is only occurring with this one album, then I would suggest deleting it from your iPhone and then adding it again to test. If this album was part of Apple Music, then you no longer have access to it once your Apple Music subscription was cancelled.

As I've said before, I can go to the album, click on it and click 'play next' and it will play the album, I can skip, pause, play. but as soon as I click on a any specific track to play, it shows that screen again, trying to sell me Apple Music! I can't avoid it, it's my music, I've clearly got access to it and it will play, it just seems to be a bug, whenever I click on an individual track, it won't play, reverts to the same screen above!
