How to stop music from auto playing when in the car

I have an iPhone 6 and when I get in my 2012 Honda CRV the music automatically starts playing. Since I use my bluetooth connection for phone calls and to use navigation I don't want to disable bluetooth but I'm running out of options. I have already tried the following.

1) deleted all music locally stored on the phone

2) disabled the music app from streaming offer cellular

3) reset all network settings

Since there is no music stored on the physical phone it clearly must be allowing music to stream over cellular but that is turned off in settings.
