Why are some of the message font colors in OS X Mail brown in the message pane, but black in the reading pane?

Why are some of the message font colors in OS X Mail brown in the message pane, but black in the reading pane? The messages are not flagged - I've checked. I'm using OS X Mail 8.2 in Yosemite 10.10.5. I've included a picture of two messages in a mailbox from the same company. One has a font color of brown and the other is black, but both fonts are black in the reading pane.

Normally, that happens because Mail's Junk Mail filter thinks the e-mail is junk/spam e-mail. When open, there should be a thumbs up option to mark it as not junk in the top of the window the e-mail is opened in.
