Where are my music videos on my iPhone?

At one time, music videos (such as the free ones that come with the purchase of an album via iTunes or individual vids purchased) used to load in the "Videos" app, and then, until recently, would load into the Music app on the phone. So I created playlists with the videos I wanted to have on my phone, so I could find them more easily. Since the upgrade to iOS10, I can't find them anywhere????? Anyone know anything about this? I added one of the playlists of videos I have and it syncs, but when I look for the playlist, it is nowhere to be found.

Also, has anyone noticed that with downloaded music, when you select music to be listed by songs, it is not listing the songs in alpha order but still listing songs by artist name??? This is a bug that needs to be fixed!!!

Thanks

Hi Bababababababa,

In iOS 10, in the Music app, your music videos can be found in a smart playlist called "Music Videos."

Tap Library. Choose the Playlists category, and you'll see the smart playlists.

To sort your Library by the song title, tap on the Settings app on your Home screen.

Tap Music > Sort Songs & Albums > By Title

Take a look at the Music section of the updated iPhone User Guide for iOS 10 for more information about the new features.
(Click on the Table of Contents, then click Apps).

Enjoy!

Hi Bababababababa,

Thanks for your reply. The Music Videos playlist on your iPhone should contain the music videos that you sync from your iTunes Library. You will only find items in the "Downloaded Music" playlist that you purchased and downloaded from iTunes to your device or that you downloaded for offline listening from Apple Music (which you are not a member).
  1. Take a look at your iTunes Library on your Mac. If you aren't seeing the sidebar, choose View > Show Sidebar from the Menu bar.
  2. If you have any Music videos in your library, you should see a category called Music Videos in the latest version of iTunes.
  3. Now, attach your iPhone via USB and click on the Music Category in the sidebar.
  4. Click Sync Music, and choose "Include music videos"
  5. If you have sync set to "Selected playlists, artists. albums, and genres" select a playlist that you hadn't previously synced to your iPhone.
  6. Click Sync and disconnect the iPhone when you are done.
On your iPhone, when you tap Music > Playlists do you see the Music Videos playlist now?

Send me an update, please.

Thank you Chris. The info about using Settings worked perfectly 🙂

However, there are no smart playlists in my Music app at all. It isn't listed as an option anywhere. I should specify that I do not use iCloud to manage my library because I don't want to have to pay for storage. So I prefer to download music and videos from my Mac to my phone. When I go into the main "Library" page in the Music app, and selected "Edit", I did find an option to turn on "videos". However, once again, when I'm away from my wifi, it wants to use my cellular data to access my library, which I don't want. When I go into the "Downloaded Music" page (which is where I want to find my music video playlists), there is no video option at all! I appreciate any other suggestions.

Hi brenden, I seem to be having major issues with this.

I have the sidebar displayed and I can see my devices listed on the left. However, at the top, where I would click on a device to then manage what is on the phone (e.g. add or remove playlists and then sync, it is greyed out!!!!! So I can't do steps 4 or 5 now! I can't even sync my phone, except when it does it automatically when I first connect it to the usb!

I am going to likely have to call Apple Support, since I now can't change any of the content on my phone anymore! This is very frustrating. If you have any further suggestions, I'm open to them.

Thanks

Sorry, spoke too soon, please disregard the previous post. It was greyed out because I was trying to see if I could address the issue by editing the video playlist on the Mac, but hadn't hit "done".

I will try the steps you've outlined again when I am able to (later on today).

Thanks again for your help. Hoping I can get this working.

(btw, I really wish I could change my dumb user name here, but apparently it can never be changed)
