Q: Utilize an Airport Extreme A1034 in extender mode

I have a Mac mini running El Capitan and would like to extend the coverage of my wireless network by using my old A1034 Airport Extreme. The utility is not supported and I have seen many work arounds but not for El Capitan.

If you have access to a Mac with an earlier Mac OS X version, or a PC running a supported Windows version, you could download an appropriate older AirPort Utility (via Apple Support Downloads, search for AirPort Utility), and then carry out the A1034 (802.11g) base station configuration via that computer.

It would probably be a good idea to post a question in the AirPort section. When doing so, please let them know the model of the existing wireless router and how you plan to arrange the network. If at all possible, there are many limitations to consider, especially if different router makes/types/speeds are involved.
