Q: Problem syncing music from iTunes to iPhone

I’ve been experiencing an extremely annoying issue with managing the iTunes library on my iPhone and thought I would ask if anyone here has a solution to suggest. In summary, iTunes is not reliably copying music from my iTunes library onto my iPhone.

I'm using a HP laptop, with Windows 10. I'm running the latest version of iTunes and my iPhone 6 is running iOS 10.

My iTunes library is on an external HD, plugged into powered USB hub. The only option I have selected is to covert higher bit rate songs to 128kbps. I'm looking to sync 28.26 GBs of music and I have around 35 GBS of free space on my iPhone.

When I use iTunes on my computer – all of my tracks are found and play without a problem. The issue arises when I try to sync tracks from my Windows iTunes library with my iPhone – sometimes tracks copy and sometimes they don’t. Sometimes they look like they are coping but remain greyed out and unplayable. Sometimes they look like they copied but when I try to play them from the iPhone I get the dreaded exclamation point and the tracks have not copied and will not play. The problem has been intermittent but is getting reliably worse. As soon as a song fails to sync, the song in question receives an exclamation mark to its left in iTunes and an additional exclamation mark in a triangle appears in the left column, between my iPhone name and the rotating syncing icon.

I’ve googled solutions but everything I’ve found deals with the iTunes library on the computer and not the iPhone.

Any ideas?

I have 100% the exact same problem. I was going to add the question today, but I see yours.  Let's see if the have an answer.

Mine works exactly the same.  I check (let's say) 10 playlists, 100 songs..  sync starts and in 2-3 seconds shows a done. 1-2 songs move over, the other 98 songs are listed, but grayed out.  I have tried everything.  Nothing works.  My songs are NOT anything unusual, not high bit rate, or anything.  Just normal...

Sort of the same is going for Photos.. I set my iPhone 7 up as new, and want to sync with my photos from the computer. Let's say 200 photos. It gets to about 31 photos and stops.  Just stops.  I can't do anything but disconnect and try again. next time it could stop at 28 photos or 44 photos. The stopping point is random.

Something is messed up.   Thanks for posting, let's see if we get any help!

I sort of did...  but it was a combination of 2 things.  #1 Apple replaced my phone, but that did not do it..  (phone had other problems too / an iPhone 7)..  Finally I had to remove every trace of iTunes from the computer, every file, every associated program, every link, every trace from the registry (Windows computer)... etc.. and start clean.  I can now sync photos, music and ringtones, as well as books.. however if in iTunes I click on Apps or App Store, iTunes crashes.

So not a total fix, but something.
