When I double-click and open a message in Mail, I know how to do Command-Shift-+ to zoom in on (make larger) the text in the message.
But when I click Compose to start a new message, Command-Shift-+ does not work. Is there a way to zoom in on text when creating a new message?

Use just the Command - + key combination. You don't need the Shift key.
When I do Command-+, it increases the text by changing (increasing) the font size of the text. I don't want to change the font size of the text that I am drafting, I just want to zoom in on it. Make sense?
Thanks. I just activated it. Command-Option-= zooms all the open windows, not just the Mail Compose window, but that'll work for me.
