Q: ICloud

Hello,

I just upgraded my ICloud storage to 50G in hopes to free up space on my phone. I backed up my phone and when I look in my ICloud from icloud.com I see all my photos have been successfully uploaded. Great! But, I thought that now I could delete photos off my phone to create more space on my phone without losing the photos completely, but when I went to delete photos a message came up saying that this photo would also be deleted from my Icloud library? This does not help me make more space on my phone. Is there a solution? Am I doing something wrong or is upgrading my Icloud storage space a big waste of money? And I should just save my photos on my computer instead?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

iCloud is a syncing system, not an external 'hard drive'. If you delete them on your device, they will delete from iCloud. To increase space available, go Settings/iCloud/Photos and select Optimize iPhone/iPad Storage. That will reduce the space required by about 90% when fully effective.
