Q: Mac OS Yosemite on a Mac Pro (Trash Can)

Greetings,

I wanted to find out if its still possible to install OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite on a current 2013+ Mac Pro (Trash Can). I use Aperture on a MBP and am thinking about getting a second Mac that can run Aperture, and also thinking bout a bit of Future Proofing. Aperture Vs 3.6 runs really well in Yosemite so have no desire to upgrade the OS.

Thanks.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

The original Mac Pro (late 2013) model shipped with OS X 10.9 Mavericks. It can run that plus any of the upgraded versions since then, including Yosemite & El Capitan. However, you will not find a Yosemite download at the App Store as it is no longer available ... unless you had purchased / downloaded it previously.

Maybe. The early 2013 Mac Pros came with Mavericks and those can still run Yosemite as well as Mavericks.

The possible problem is that if Internet Recovery for the current 2013 Mac Pro still installs Mavericks or Yosemite or a later OSX version.

I base this on that 2010 Mac Minis that have been upgraded to add Internet Recovery can no longer boot from a Snow Leopard install DVD and install Snow Leopard.

I suspect that an existing Yosemite installation could be cloned to a current 2013 Mac Pro

When did you previously download Yosemite?

If a while ago you will have to redownload since Apple stopped signing older downloads
