I Need to know if Apple Watch 2 will be able to track altitude / elavation without having my phone. Im wanting to buy a Watch to use for Strava

Hi

Apple Watch Series 2 does not include a barometer.

Series 2 features include built-in GPS, water resistance to 50m and a dual-core processor.

Based on a tear down, the Apple Watch Series 2 has a Barometric Pressure Sensor.

Not sure but my apple watch original does track elevation gain? this is on activity app on the phone.

You do not need barometer to track elevation. GPS also tracks elevation.
