Sep 18, 2016 3:38 PM in response to PPPfromsan joseby deggie,Why not just screen the junk mail? All that has probably happened is someones contacts were hacked and they found your email address. Keep in mind that all previous purchases are tied to your current Apple ID and will not transfer to your new ID.

Sep 18, 2016 3:46 PM in response to deggieby PPPfromsan jose,I would rather not use a compromised account name since nasty spoofers are getting more clever. I don't want to have to question every email as to its authenticity, I'd rather not use an address that has been "posted on the bathroom wall.
If I have multiple accounts I can use one to receive subscribed email, and another for communication with friends, etc. I could do this with google or yahoo, but I would prefer to avoid the advertisements and use an apple account for personal correspondence.

Sep 18, 2016 3:48 PM in response to PPPfromsan joseby KiltedTim,Receiving spam is not an indication that your account has been compromised. It's a side effect of having an email account. Sooner or later, the spammers will get your address. You don't need to create a new Apple ID to get another email address.

Sep 18, 2016 3:57 PM in response to PPPfromsan joseby Phil0124,As has been said, all you need to do is change the e-mail address being used for your Apple ID.
This is completely changeable and has no relation to what your e-mail address is receiving.
Note that all purchases will remain tied to the Apple ID that made / downloaded them, and that cannot be changed.
It's best if you can change the e-mail address assuming its not an Apple based one such @icloud.com, or @me.com, or @mac.com address.
