Sep 18, 2016 2:30 PM in response to Aggy101by Michael Black,Take it in to Apple or an Apple Authorized service center. They are the only ones with access to OEM replacement parts and they guarantee their work (an Apple out of warranty repair reinstates the remainder of your device's warranty or 90 days, whichever is longer).
You can find authorized service providers in your country at the "find a reseller" link at the very bottom of this page.

Sep 18, 2016 4:43 PM in response to Aggy101by SunOfRa78,Your alternative to Michael's suggestion, is to take it to a reputable independent repairer. If you find a good one you will likely get a 12 month warranty on the screen. It does mean forgoing any out of warranty options with Apple.

Sep 18, 2016 6:22 PM in response to Aggy101by Meg St._Clair,And, if you don't find a good independent repairer, but instead end up with one who isn't so good (and how will you tell ahead of time?) you'll end up with a phone that Apple won't touch and possibly with permanently disabled Apple ID.
Take it to Apple.

Sep 18, 2016 6:39 PM in response to Michael Blackby Michael Black,Quite honestly, the challenge with non-Authorized repairers is finding an honest one who stands by their work. These forums themselves are littered with posts of people who went that route only to end up out of pocket for the repair fees and with a still useless device. And note please that outside of Apple and their authorized service providers, nobody has access to true OEM parts - Apple does not offer them at retail nor do they provide them wholesale to non-authorized repairers. So non-authorized repairers are using used, salvaged, gray or black merger parts only.
The advantage of Apple or their authorized repair centers is they do indeed guarantee their work.

Sep 18, 2016 8:49 PM in response to Aggy101by SunOfRa78,Michael and Meg are completely right in most regards.
That's why I'd say go for someone who stands behind their parts for 12 months (6 months at a stretch). In comparison to Apple's 3 month warranty, this is good. Those who offer 12 months are likely using the best quality screens available to them which are of an equal grade and quality to what Apple uses.
Never go for the cheapest option... the likelihood disappointment is quite high.
I'm not sure what Meg is speaking about in regards to a disabled Apple ID... a myth of the highest magnitude methinks.
And Michael's right, the forums are littered with bad experiences, in the same way it's flooded with bad experiences going through Apple directly. It's an imperfect world.
