Q: Restore back up to iphone given to me by my partner isn't working
I dropped my iphone 5s in the mop bucket and its definable not repairable. My partner has given me his 1phone 5s, which i paid to unlock the network, which was successful. I backed up my partners phone on his itunes via usb cable on his laptop and then restored there also. I then plugged his phone into my laptop for my itunes to restore my old phones back up and noticed the screen, apps, messages, contacts of mine and other content were not actually on the new phone. So i restored from my laptop and tried to back up and then had a lot of trouble with the phone apparently disconnecting as the restore back up was about to start yet the restore worked fine. so changed cable and read up thinking i had a corrupt back up, so deleted unnecessary back ups. chose an older back up and this tie the restore was successful but still didn't have my content or apps etc!
I'm getting really frustrated with this and wonder am i missing something or have i done something wrong?
Before i was able to connect to itunes at home i did go to the Vodaphone shop to get a new sim card as was on contract and there the phone said this phone is liked to another apple ID, so i typed my partners info in, then changed the details to my apple ID. wold this have anything to do with the problem I'm having?
I also restarted itunes, and the pc, and ive updated itunes to 10.0.
Help Please!
iPhone 5s, iOS 10

If the backup is from a newer iOS version then the iPhone iOS, you cannot restore from that backup.
You can only restore from an older or same iOS backup to an iPhone.
And yes, you have to sign out of partner Apple ID and use your own.
