iPhone 7 Restoring from backup issues

Tried restoring my iPhone 7 from an iPhone 6 backup running on iOS 9, but after it says 1 min remaining an error message pops up saying "Could not restore backup". I no longer have my iPhone 6. What should I do?

Hello Jetsetter39,

Thanks for asking your question here in the Apple Support Communities. Congratulations on getting the new iPhone 7! I understand how important it is to get your information from one device, to your new device. Here are the options you have:

Depending on whether you have a Mac or PC you can use one of these two help articles to assist you in getting your music and other data to your new iPhone from iTunes:

1. iTunes 12 for Mac: Sync iPod, iPhone, or iPad

2. iTunes 12 for Windows: Sync iPod, iPhone, or iPad
If you prefer not to or are unable to use iTunes, you will be able to restore all of your previous purchases using this help article: Download your past purchases. If you already have some items on your iPhone, check the articles for a section titled "Keep items from being automatically synced" to prevent items from being removed that are not on your computer yet, and then manually sync the rest of the items to your new iPhone 7. Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.
