I just purchased the iphone 7 and tried to backup all my information from my past iphone.
Error message: "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone “Ashley iPhone” because an invalid response was received from the device" keeps popping up when connecting iPhone 7 to computer.
PLEASE HELP

Be certain you are running iTunes 12.5.1 on your computer, as only that version (or later) can deal with iOS 10.

Oh! I'm running 12.2.2, and when I select "iTunes -> Check for Updates" pop up says, "iTunes 12.2.2 is the current version" :-(
OK, you have a serious problem. But it's good you told us the above ...
iTunes 12.5.1 (current version) requires a reasonably current operating system on your computer, which it seems you do not have. You need at least OS X 10.9.5 or later (for a Mac) or Windows 7 or later. If you tell us more about your computer, we'll see what comes next.

You cannot possibly use your iPhone 7 with OS X 10.7.5! The current OS X version is 10.11.6!!
If you can, you must update OS X. Here is how:
Upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support
Note that on Sept. 20, El Capitan will no longer be the latest version of OS X. At that time, MacOS Sierra will be released.
Anyway, once you update to OS X El Capitan (if you can), then open the App Store, click the "updates" tab on top, and download and install all updates. That will include the iTunes version you need.
By the way, as I saw you made a fleeting comment about iPhoto, Apple stopped supporting and updating iPhoto about eighteen months ago, when Photos was introduced into OS X 10.10. At that time, there was software to transition photos from the iPhoto library of iPhoto 9.6.1 (which you almost certainly do not have, and will therefore encounter issues here) to Photos.
In the future, be sure you update/upgrade all Apple software at the earliest possible opportunity. You now have an enormous mountain to climb.
