Try a reboot press & hold power button & menu button hold both down until you see apple logo .
If you still have a problem check setting on ipad & apple tv
Have you updated software on Apple tv?

Some apps explicitly block AirPlay, but if you see "This video is playing on Apple TV", it should be OK. Can you try AirPlay from another app or website, say YouTube or Vimeo? This audio only thing does happen sometimes.
By the way, since the update, have you restarted the iPad? Hold Sleep and Home buttons until you see the Apple. It seems like the updated system isn't really stable until that's done.

Sep 20, 2016 2:21 AM in response to Diana.McCallby ajmilitello,So far it's only been Slingbox so I'm pretty sure that it's the app. Other apps/web sites have worked out just fine but w/Slingbox I think the issue is that when it enters AirPlay the screen goes dark. Under the old iOS you had the option of turning of the mirroring option but it looks like they removed that feature. Ultimately I think Slingbox will need to correct the issue on their end. Weird part is AirPlay works normal until you need to access the remote control and then it reverts back to mirroring the blank screen once you use it. Additionally I can AirPlay Slingbox via the webpage which further leads me to suspect it's the app itself.
As for updating, everything has been updated, rebooted, and reconnected so I think I've exhausted that avenue.
