Email Continually Crashing on iPad with iOS 10

My email keeps closing with iOS 10 on my iPad 4th Gen. I can read a few emails and then the app just shuts down. I've tried uninstalling the mail app and reinstalling. I've also erased all settings and performed a hard reboot to no avail. Any suggestions or fixes?

I had this exact same problem started a couple of weeks ago. Running ios 10.3.3 on iphone 6 plus. I'll be straight up

This, like many of these "random" issues absolutely infuriated me. I did absolutely nothing to have this change. ios mail is my bread and butter so it really stopped me in my tracks.

As with everything, googled it, I've read numerous threads on the ios boards like this and suggested solutions elsewhere. None of them worked, some of them, especially the offiically supported suggestions were just extreme.

After banging my head for a week without resolve I tried the following, call it a moment of clarity.

Settings > Mail > Accounts > Fetch New Data

Then turned it off.

It was a process of elimination, I figured if it worked I could manually pull mail from each account one at a time to identify the problem.

This worked. When I say it worked I mean the ios mail app no longer crashed. I went through each e-mail account but none of them crashed the app when pulling mail so I couldn't identify the problem, however, I have alot of accounts and alot of folders, so it may be that it's a particular folder that's causing the problem.

Further more, I had previously, albeit very briefly noticed a weird ios mail gltich, where a folder or two would be named incorrectly on my phone usually to a bunch of numbers/letters, so could possibly have something to do with that.

In short, switch off Fetch, this worked for me and was the biggest relief I've felt since I unloaded my blue balls after 2 years.

Ironically, I, after checking each account, turned fetch back on and the problem did not return until 2 weeks later. So I still believe the problem may lie with a specific folder. And yes, turning "Fetch New Data" fixed it again.

So if you have the issue with iOS mail app crashing, for me it would open then crash after seconds, usually at some point of trying to pull mail from an account, then try switching off fetch new data.

Hope it helps.

p.s Posting this potential solution on all related threads because 99% of responses make me won't to suicide. I'm a real person who lives in the real world with real things to do and just don't have time to waste looking for what should be simple solutions to stupid problems especially when the solutions are non-existent or ********.
